The Idea
In 2014 I set off on a project designed around music. I never learned to play the piano, but I was sure that given enough time I could design the software and hardware necessary to interface with one.
The project took about 8 months and now is a frequent attendee to many local art and music events.
The Process
I approached this project from several angles, and it required the alignment of many elements.
- Procure a functional player piano
- Design the electromechanical hardware
- Integrate open-source software for Midi over IP connection
- Design and code the visualization stack
- Execute performances
